Event Summary
DAAD South Africa in 2022
In spite of the challenges faced after two years of the Covid-19 Pandemic and unexpected budget constraints, we are grateful to be able to reflect back on a highly successful year.
A Kick-Off Meeting was held from 3 - 6 March to launch the Digital Initiative for African Centres of Excellence (DIGI-FACE) project. This event, which brought together pedagogical, media and technical experts from DAAD’s African-German Centres of Excellence, took place at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Due to the global Corona virus pandemic, a few of our events for 2020 have had to be cancelled. We regret that we are unable to travel quite as extensively as we normally hope to do, but are exploring virtual information sharing possibilities with Adobe Connect.
The DAAD had the pleasure to host 18 management members of German universities in South Africa for a delegation visit from 8 - 14 March 2020. The purpose of the visit was to develop and strengthen academic cooperation between German and South African universities.
3000 researchers, scientists & policy-makers from all over the world attended the Science Forum South Africa (SFSA) in Pretoria in December 2018. Research in Germany and DAAD South Africa were present with a stall and Science Talks.
Over the weekend of the 7th of September, the DAAD South Africa team, its guest and in-country scholarship holders came together for the 8th annual DAAD South Africa Conference. Read more about the exciting weekend here!
