The German Research Foundation (DFG) together with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) support the initiation of international research cooperation in mathematical sciences between researchers in early career phases from African countries and researchers at German universities.

The AIMS-DFG German-African Visiting Programme aims to connect the wider research communities in the mathematical sciences in Africa and Germany. Joint research interests are identified and specific joint project ideas are supported by this programme. Applicants can apply for funding for trips abroad or guest visits. Funding for a maximum of 12 months is available.

The two available modules are:

  • German researchers travel to one of the five AIMS centres
  • African researchers in early career phases visit Germany

Proposals must be submitted in English by German researchers.

Proposal deadline: 31 October 2023

For further information please contact AIMS-DFG.
